Colonel Kernel

A free 1D convolution / deconvolution tool that runs entirely in your browser — a teaching demonstrator for convolution, and a ground-truth verification instrument for calcium imaging.

The flagship use: load a paired recording — ground-truth spike times plus a measured calcium trace (dF/F₀) — and recover the calcium-indicator kernel that relates them, by three parallel methods read against an independent spike-triggered average. The scientifically important output is not just the kernel: it is an honest answer to whether a clean kernel exists at all. Spike–calcium decoupling is a finding the tool measures, not an error. Recovery runs against every trace column, so a kernel appearing in a non-targeted ROI is surfaced rather than missed.

Everything is computed client-side: no backend, no uploads, no third-party requests, and a strict Content-Security-Policy that forbids network egress. Unpublished data never leaves your machine.
